Subject: Necessity of Afforestation
Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily I would like to ventilate my concern about the necessity of afforestation.
Existence of human being on this planet widely depends on forest. Trees have the power to draw rainwater from clouds. Man lives on agricultural products which also depend on rain. Thus
forest is indirectly helping man to keep his existence (অস্তিত্ব). Man cannot live existed on the earth without forest.
But now our poor earth is heading towards a great disaster. The statesmen, scientists, common people all over the world are pointing to this problem i.e. deforestation (বৃক্ষছেদন). Forests are the gifts of Nature. But the increasing population has leads to deforestation. People are cutting trees indiscriminately. Thus deforestation threatens extinction of biodiversity.
We need a forest land equal to one third of the total land area of the
country for ecological balance.
So, Government should take necessary steps for planting ot thousands of plants. Every citizen of India should come forward for afforestation in order to ensure the lives of our future generation.
