যখন কোনো একটি নাউন (Noun) এর সঙ্গে অন্য এক বা একাধিক কোনো শব্দ (Word) বা পদ যুক্ত হয়ে একটি যৌগিক শব্দ (Compound Word) গঠন করে এবং তা কোন পদার্থ বা প্রাণী কে নির্দেশ করে বা বোঝায়, তখন তাকেই নমিনাল কমপাউন্ড (Nominal Compound) বা যৌগিক বিশেষ্য পদ বলা হয়।

অর্থাৎ, একাধিক আলাদা অর্থ বিশিষ্ট word বা শব্দ যখন একসঙ্গে যুক্ত হয়ে একটি Noun জাতীয় Word বা শব্দ বা পদ গঠন করে, তখন তাকে Nominal Compound বা যৌগিক বিশেষ্য পদ বলে।
