The full name of APJ Abdul Kalam is Abdul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam. He is popularly known as APJ Abdul Kalam. APJ Abdul Kalam was born on 15th October 1931. He was born in a middle-class Tamil family at Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu. The name of his father was Jainulabdeen and his mother’s name was Ashiamma. He was one of the greatest scientists.
He took his first education at Rameshwaram Elementary School. Then he was admitted to Saint Joseph’s College. He obtained a degree in aerospace engineering from MIT. After that, he joined BRDO as a scientist. He designed a small helicopter. APJ Abdul Kalam joined ESRO as the project director in 1969. He built missiles one after another like Agni, Prithi, Trishul, etc. In this way, he increased the strength of the Indian defence system. He became the President of India from 2002 to 2007. He received many honours and awards. He received Padma Bhushan in 1981, Padmavibhushan in 1990, and Bharat Ratna in 1997. “Wings of Fire”, “Mission India”, “My journey” are some of his best-known books. This greatest man breathed his last on 27th July in 2015.
