Rabindranath Tagore – A Beauriful Paragraph Writing for WBBSE Students

Write a paragraph about Rabindranath Tagore.

Mother India has produced a galaxy of heroes. Rabindranath Tagore, the famous bengali poet and short-story writer was one of the brightest stars in the field of literature. He was a great philosopher poet, a painter, a playwright, song composer and a great essayist. He was born at Jorasanko in Kolkata on 7th May in 1861.

His father was Maharshi Debendranath Tagore, the religious reformer. His mother was Sarada Devi. Rabindranath had a short period of schooling in Oriental Seminary. He did not continue his study there. Later he left School. But he learnt a culture from his family. He learnt Indian and foreign classics. Rabindranath was basically a poet. He wrote poems from his very childhood. After returning from England to India, he published many books of poems. In 1890 he completed “Manasi”, a collection marking the maturity of his genius. He also wrote songs, short stories and novels.

Painting was his passion. Poems are the joy of his heart. Songs are the solace of his soul. Short stories are the pleasure of his mind – his emotion and his imagination. Tagore was a poet of vision and creative art. He also got Nobel Prize for Gitanjali in 1913. Rabindranath founded a school at Shantiniketan meaning the ‘abode of peace’. Later it came to be known as Viswa-Bharati University. He was also awarded Knighthood in 1915, but he refused it as symbol of protest against Jallianwalla Bagh Massacre. Tagore composed our national anthem “Jana Gana Mana Adhinayaka”.

Some of his well known works are – Gitanhali (Song Offerings), Gora, Ghare – Baire, Dak Ghar, Amar Sonar Bangla,  This great man breathed his last in 1941 but he is ever present in our heart. We pay our due homage to him.
