I am extremely very pleased to receive your sweet letter. You expressed your desire to know about the Kanyashree Prakalpa of West Bengal Government. Therefore, I am going to write this letter to you.
Kanyashree Prakalpa is really a grand ambitious social project. The Women Development and Social Welfare Department of West Bengal Government has undertaken this project . This project was initiated in 2012 by Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister. So, this extraordinary project wants to develop the status and wellbeing of girls. It wants to support the secio-economic conditions of dusadvantaged families. The goal of this project is to ensure that girls will study regularly to a minimum of HS level in the rural and urban areas of West Bengal.
This project also aims to stop school dropouts of girls students and victims of child marriage. Thus giving them a better socio-economic status.The unmarried girls of 13 to 18 years of age will get an annual scholarship of rupees 700 each if they continue with their school education. All unmarried girls of 18 to 19 years of age will get a one time scholarship of 25000. To our great pleasant and surprise, within a very short period this project has been able to reduce the gender bias as well as the number of school dropouts. This scheme has gained national and international recognition.
