We are Indians. India is our motherland. Our country got freedom from the British Raj on 15th August in 1947. India is a big country. It is the seventh largest country of the world. There are 29 states and 8 Union territories in India. Our National Anthem is “Jana Gana Mana.” Rabindranath Tagore, the World poet, composed it. Our national animal is tiger, national bird is peacock, national flower is lotus and national fruit is mango. The national sport of the country is hockey. We have a National Flag. It is tricoloured. Saffron is on the top, white is in the middle and green is at the bottom. The ‘Ashoka Chakra’ is in the middle. It is blue. Saffron stands for sacrifice, white stands for peace and green stands for chivalry in colour and prosperity. It is very beautiful country full of diversity. People of India speak in different languages like, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telegu, Malayalam, Oriya etc.
