Visit to a Book Fair : “Never trust anyone who has not brought a book with them…”
A book fair means a collection of various types of books in a fair. Now-a-days book fairs have become very popular in our country. In former days, book fairs were held only in the big and famous cities. But now its popularity has grown up. At present people organize book fairs not only in towns but also even in many rural areas. Last year, I visited a book fair at Arambagh in Hooghly. The fair was organised and arranged by a local club. The club organized fair in Arambagh High School compound.
Experience:
I went to the fair with my parents. We entered the fair at about 12 at noon. We found gathering of many book-lovers in front of book stalls. There were near about hundred stalls in that fair. The publishers came from various parts of our state. We saw a variety of books in the stalls. The stalls were nicely decorated to draw the attention of book-lovers. I saw many types of books on various subjects – literature, science, geography, history, technology, computer, travels etc.In the fair the volunteers willingly helped the visitors when they faced any problem. In one corner of the fair there was also a children’s park. I saw the gathering of children in the park. I bought one story book and a book of collected poems of William Wordsworth. We went back from the fear in the evening.
Effect:
This experience of visiting the book fair left a great impression in my mind. The picture of the fair is still lingering in my mind’s eye. I like to buy books to quench my thirst for knowledge.
